From June 17–19, GCAN’s country partners and core team convened in Nairobi, Kenya for a strategic workshop aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing shared goals. Representatives from Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation for a Sustainable Africa (ICCASA), Forum for Social Studies (FSS), Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUST), Environmental Care Foundation (ECF), Initiative Prospective Agricole et Rurale (IPAR), and Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN) came together in person for the first time to exchange insights and deepen their collective commitment.
As part of GCAN’s ongoing work, the workshop brought together participants to review findings from a recent capacity needs assessment, identify priority areas for capacity strengthening, and share lessons on effective policy engagement related to climate resilience, gender equality, and nutrition.
Guest speaker Susan Kaaria from AWARD and a panel of Kenyan experts enriched the discussions with valuable perspectives on empowering women in science and policy, and integrating climate, nutrition, and gender into national policy frameworks.
The convening reinforced GCAN’s commitment to coordinated action across countries and laid the foundation for continued collaboration and impact.
