The Gender, Climate Change, and Nutrition Integration Initiative
The Gender, Climate Change, and Nutrition Integration Initiative (GCAN), led by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), aims to integrate gender, climate resilience, and nutrition considerations into policies, interventions, and research.
In this video, the Centre for Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation for a Sustainable Africa (ICCASA), a GCAN partner in Kenya, engages stakeholders from Oloitokitok, Kajiado County, in a dialogue bringing together women, men, youth, and community leaders to explore the intersection of gender, climate change, and nutrition.
In September and October 2025, WASSAN conducted a series of Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRAs) with around 150 women across four districts: Koraput, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, and Bargarh.
GCAN’s activities are carried out through three workstreams—capacity strengthening, technical assistance, and strategic research—to support investments, policies, and actions that fully integrate gender equality, women’s empowerment, and nutrition objectives into climate change efforts.
GCAN offers a wealth of resources developed by globally renowned experts with extensive technical expertise in gender, climate change, nutrition, and agriculture. Our publications and resources draw upon decades of collective experience, providing valuable insights and practical guidance for implementing research and fostering effective action in focal countries and beyond.
